Terms of Service
These terms explain how quotes, bookings, lawn care services, payment and customer responsibilities work when you engage Shawns Lawns Maitland.
Last updated: 19 June 2026
Important: These terms are general website and service terms for Shawns Lawns Maitland. They are intended to be practical customer-facing terms and should be reviewed by a qualified Australian legal adviser if legal advice is required.
1. Who these terms apply to
These Terms of Service apply when you use this website, request a quote, book a service, or engage Shawns Lawns Maitland for lawn mowing, acreage mowing, hedging, pruning, garden maintenance, lawn treatments or related outdoor property services.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" means Shawns Lawns Maitland. "You" means the customer, property owner, tenant, property manager, strata manager, business representative or other person requesting or receiving services.
2. Quotes and bookings
Quotes are based on the information available at the time, including property size, access, lawn or garden condition, slope, obstacles, green waste requirements, frequency of service and the services requested.
A quote may change if the property condition, access, scope of work or customer requirements are different from what was first described. This includes overgrown lawns, hidden debris, difficult access, unsafe areas, additional green waste, animal waste, wet ground or extra tasks requested on arrival.
Unless stated otherwise, quotes are valid for 14 days. A booking is confirmed once we accept the job and agree a service time or service window.
3. Access to the property
You are responsible for providing safe and reasonable access to the areas that need to be serviced. This may include unlocking gates, securing pets, moving vehicles, clearing toys or loose items, and letting us know about hazards before work starts.
If access is not available when we arrive, a cancellation, call-out or minimum service fee may apply. If only part of the property is accessible, we may complete the accessible areas and charge for the work completed.
4. Property condition and hazards
Please tell us about known risks before the service, including irrigation parts, exposed pipes, cables, drainage pits, uneven ground, loose rocks, glass, metal, garden edging, fragile fixtures, ponds, septic lids, low-hanging branches, wasp nests or other hazards.
We take reasonable care when providing services, but we are not responsible for damage caused by hidden, unmarked or unsafe items that could not reasonably be seen or avoided during normal work.
We may refuse, pause or reschedule work if we consider a property or task unsafe.
5. Weather and rescheduling
Lawn and garden work can be affected by rain, heat, storms, wet ground, poor visibility, machinery issues, traffic and other operational factors. We may reschedule if conditions make the job unsafe, likely to damage the property, or unlikely to deliver a good result.
If we need to reschedule, we will do our best to contact you and arrange the next suitable time.
6. Service results and limitations
We aim to provide professional, reliable lawn and garden services using suitable equipment and reasonable care. Results can vary depending on lawn health, weeds, soil, irrigation, weather, season, previous maintenance, property condition and customer instructions.
Some jobs, especially overgrown lawns, hard pruning, weed control, lawn treatments or restoration work, may require more than one visit to achieve the desired result.
7. Green waste and disposal
Green waste removal is included only where it has been quoted or agreed. If green waste removal is not included, clippings or garden waste may be left onsite in an agreed location, placed in your green waste bin where suitable, or managed as discussed before the job.
Additional disposal costs may apply for large volumes of green waste, non-green waste or contaminated waste.
8. Payments
Payment terms will be confirmed at the time of quoting or invoicing. Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due when the service is completed or by the due date shown on the invoice.
For regular work, we may pause future services if invoices remain overdue. You are responsible for any reasonable recovery costs we incur when collecting overdue amounts.
9. Cancellations and changes
Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or change a booking. If a booking is cancelled at short notice, or if we arrive and cannot complete the service for reasons outside our control, a reasonable cancellation, call-out or minimum service fee may apply.
10. Photos and work examples
We may take before and after photos of outdoor work for quoting, quality control, record keeping or marketing. We will not intentionally publish identifying personal information, private documents, faces, house numbers or vehicle registration details without permission.
If you do not want photos of your property used for marketing, please let us know.

The information on this website is general in nature. While we aim to keep it accurate and current, service availability, pricing, inclusions, response times and service areas may change.

12. Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. These include guarantees that services will be provided with due care and skill, will be fit for a stated purpose where applicable, and will be supplied within a reasonable time where no time is agreed.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded under Australian law.
13. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, consequential or special loss, loss of profit, loss of business opportunity, or loss caused by inaccurate information supplied by you, unsafe property conditions, hidden hazards, normal wear and tear, weather, pests, disease, pre-existing lawn or garden conditions, or events outside our reasonable control.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our liability is limited to the extent permitted by Australian law.
